except those 2, 3, and 4 disc clutches are a.) expensive, and b.) pull type (I'm converting to a push type because of simplicity). Try to change a "pull type" clutch from underneath the car and you'll understand. There's not too many cars in the USA that use this type, so most people aren't familiar with it.

the quarter master duals are loud...sounds like you have a bad throwout bearing when the clutch is down...

not familiar with the difference in push/pull type clutches...never heard a distinction between the two...

Basically it's the position of the clutch slave cylinder and how the TO bearing attaches to the pressure plate.

On the RB26 AWD transmission, the slave cylinder pushes the fork toward the front of the car (and the fork pivots on the ball, obviously moving in the opposite direction) and "pulls" against the pressure plate instead of pushing on it. Because of this, the Throwout bearing is actually attached to the pressure plate....and it is VERY hard to separate when thins are assembled. You actually have about a 1"x1" square to reach down from the top of the transmission to the TO bearing to try and separate them with a big-*** flathead screwdriver or similar tool. But wait! before you do that, you have to reach in that same 1"x1" opening to reach for a clevis pin holding the fork onto a pivot point, using some 12" or longer needle nose pliers...and MOST of the time this isn't correctly positioned from that hole opening (fortunately, mine was).

It gets more complicated from there, but yea...

So when I'm swapping the transmission bellhousings over, I just have to run a 90-96 300zx N/A clutch, RB26 flywheel (yes, they all bolt up...crazy, isn't it?), an RB25DET slave cylinder, 300zx TO bearing, 300zx clutch pivot ball and fork (in order to install those, I just have to tap 3 holes...very simple), and VOILA! I have a "normal" push type clutch!

aha

that little access hole is bigger in some cars than others :lawl:

whoever comes up with these swap lists is ridiculous :run: "oh of course...all you need is an rb25 slave cylinder!" :lawl: someone must have had a pile of parts during the first couple of swaps...

Well, "they" (the Z32 RB26 community) didn't know that the bellhousings just "Swap" over until about a year ago....which greatly simplified things. Before that, it was just to use the VERY weak RB25 transmission...that, or run a TH400 auto trans. :) (muahah)... I still don't see this swap being very popular for the Z32 300zx because of the sheer cost involved. The 240sx RB26 swaps are MUUUUUCH cheaper (like 1/2 the price).... BUT 240's don't have the timeless looks of the 90-96 300zx. S13 240's LOOK like they are from the 80's... Z32's still look almost like a "current" design car, in my opinion.

People are still amazed when I tell them that my car is 20 years old.

Yes...agreed. I think the taillights make it "totally 80's", but other than that, it's pretty much a late 90's looking design.

Updates:

Custom FMIC is installed w/4" piping using the front bumper support. Turbo has arrived. Borg Warner Airwerks S300 series S360sx 1.00/0.91 using a T4 flange. V-band FTW!

It's still a ways from running, but I'm getting there, slowly...

(P.S. I put my GODZRA license plate by it in the pictures because due to the "rarity" of this swap, there are many people out there that are nonbelievers that this isn't my swap.... similar to the person here that posted his "K20A2 swap in a CG5").... so just to take away any doubt. :) I can take any pics, any angle, whatever... I can take a pic of today's newspaper if it matters. :)
