I'm thinking about buying a beater to drive until spring and holding on to the insurance money to use as a down payment on 2010 or 11 new car...

Otherwise, insurance is giving me enough money to buy a sub-100k EX 6GA. I do love the 6GA, but at this point I think it's time to move on to something newer and nicer, just need to suffer for another 9 months or so.

I should clarify, they'll give me enough to buy the sub-100k car with NO money left over for mods. After spending the last 1.5 years in a car I modded to exactly what I wanted, I think driving around a stock 6GA would be extremely dissatisfying and probably heart breaking.

Let's not forget I havent given up on the idea of buying my car back and transferring the parts to a 175k+ 6GA. When I speak to my total loss rep tomorrow, I'll see what he's willing to negotiate.

If I don't buy my car back, I have to let it all go.

I haven't weighed the cost of buying it back vs. the amount of money I could recover parting it out.

PROFIT! :lawl:

it definitely falls into the beater category :lawl:

in all seriousness, i dont see them charging more than $1000 for your car. i think (but its been years) that my dad bought the acclaim back for $200 or something. mint interior, like 80k miles, 12 years old. then again, i have no clue how the aftermarket parts, being on the policy and all, will play into it. logically, it would lower the price since they would cut you a smaller check because they're not "paying out" for your parts.

according to reason, that is...but were talking insurance companies :lawl:

I think I'm going to tell him I want $4400 + my car back. I would be happy with that deal. That's plenty for me to buy a nice 6GA and transfer all goddamn mother****ing $5,279.18 in parts over to the new car.

sounds about right. i'm no insurance expert, but i'd think ~$3500 + $2500 parts would be what they'd offer you as a straight check with them keeping the car.

logic might get thrown out the window :lawl:

according to the anchor effect, make a high offer off the bat...then the negotiations will stick around that number :D

I had my old 6thgen towed to my house and I took out my new battery and switched it with my currant 6thgen. Along with the lights...and a few other things. But thats because I had the car parked there, I refused to let them take it to a yard.
