so im looking to get some leds. the site i plan on buying them from are superbrightleds.com.

my options are the regular 168 ones that put out about 20 lumens. $5 a piece

and the high power ones that put out about 55-60 lumens. $10 a piece

they will be replacing my license plate light, trunk light, courtesy lights, and map.

my question is; is it worth it to get the higher power ones? i dont quite understand lumens. would the 20 lumens bulb not be bright then?

thanks guys

awesome thanks for the input. i plan on buying from superbrightleds.com however. i think thier cheaper and has more output. im just trying to see what most ppl use for the trunk and interior lighting. i dont wanna overkill but if its worth i might.

Depends on your application. For twice the price, you could get 3x the output.

Id save the higher output ones for your trunk, dome, map and/or courtesy lights. You dont want your license plate lights to be TOO bright. Standard 20lumen LEDs will be brighter and crisper than your standard 194 filament bulb anyway.

be like it is
in my car, i have the following from SBLEDs...

map, 4 doors: 120 degree "regular" 168 bulb. map lights should be a narrow beam instead. doors are fine, could be brighter if you want.

trunk and plate: 5 LED "normal" style...i think its called WLED5. plates bright enough, trunk could be brighter if you want.

dome: 3x super bright festoon. this one wins, all around. very bright, good coverage.

yeah. SBLEDs has like a 38 degree bulb or something similar. "spot beam" or whatever...

Nice i might have to pick me up a pair for the map lights.

Id also like to do a custom light to shine down on the shifter like the new cars have....dont know what its called but that would be a sick mod.
