My guess is the engine or tranny went, so he stopped updating :jae: Never did see those dyno pics either......that's probably when the tranny went.

I know that 6th gen V6's are supposed to have notoriously bad transmissions but I want to share my experience:
My 98 stock V6 has over 334,XXX km with original transmission and I haven't had any problems yet. In fact I downshift to 3rd fairly often as well as back and forth from N and 4th in order to coast better at speeds over 60km/h. Of course I am very aware of my rpm when I do so but still, I don't baby the thing (other than putting her in neutral at long stop lights). And the tranny works as good as it always has (it's a bit "laggy") but it's been dependable and consistent.

Considering this I could totally see someone successfully boosting the V6 with the stock tranny. It seems like the autotragedy is perhaps exaggerated???...

That being said I think a 3.0L turbo V6 would beg to be mated with a different tranny.

I wonder if the 4-speed auto does better getting shifted around more and the ppl who baby it are the ones who will have it fail sooner. Just a crazy theory. But cars like to be run. Parts can wear out over time but they are only doing exactly what they were designed to do.
When I notice something slightly off about my car (like when it's choosing to shift). I take it through the paces (in other words "spirited driving") and then it always runs smooth again. Auto's seem to have their own personality, if you can learn to work with them they seem to last. In fact I have to add that after my mother has borrowed my Accord (and i suspect she babies it because she thinks its so old its going to fall apart) the car always feels off. Like I have give it more gas than usual for it to shift up smoothly. But then I take it through the paces and it's back to normal.

I don't understand car components as well as I'd like :lurking: ...yet. So maybe I've just been lucky with my transmission thus far. But I'm certain of one thing. If my tranny is going to die it's going to go out the way it was meant to. And not being putted around to a slow death.:peace:
