Any thoughts on how expensive it would be to ship a bike? I went online to FedEx (shipping from Columbus, OH to Chicago, IL) and if I did everything correct it said it was just $37. That just does not seem right hahaha

Anybody have any experience shipping bikes

Got my Michelin Ksyrium yesterday and installed it with Specialized Tube.

I got Fizik Dual Tape on the way, and Bontrager X-Lite Carbon Cage.

Here's my current set-up.

they are usually around that price range. i've been shipping bikes sold on ebay. the best route to have a low S&H cost plus proper packing is to get an carboard bicycle box from your LBS. These boxes have measurements that is approved both UPS and FEDEX. And if get lucky, those cardboard boxes comes with styrofoam and fillers.

Yeah I could not remember how much it was when I worked at a shop since we just had a flat rate. Went by a LBS few days ago to get a box and packing material...decided against shipping it though. Just was not worth the trouble and it would of not arrived until midway threw my trip because of my procrastinating....LAME

now if I want to ride a bike while I am in Chicago I will have to rent some crappy Swchinn for $60 a day...rip off...I wish I knew someone in Chicago to lend me a bike

i almost did the same thing when i went to Cali last year. Didnt want to go through all the hassles so i ended up renting some demo bike on one of the LBS there. You could try that too to avoid the schwinns.

i just shop for a good deal on CL and ebay a lot.

im still a newbie to road bikes and have limited experience on building it. i used to build BMX bikes a long time ago, but i guess it shouldnt be that far of a difference.

can you still get discount? :naughty:
