thats exactly what im sayn, bass is over powering, but i still need good mids and highs
thought about adding tweets and new 6.5 and 6x9s

got another question i have a sony receiver(does the job)
i figured the receiver can handle the front 6.5 but shld i get a small amp for 6x9s
or just go ahead and get a 4 channel for all 4

Actually its the other way around, the front speakers are the important ones so those are the ones you want to power with an amp instead of the rears. Dont rely on the head unit to power the front speakers you'll be dissapointed because the head unit is simply not strong enough much less with a sony head unit which is a pretty cheap head unit no offense (but yes it does get the job done lol). Oh and dont worry about 6x9's at all just get a good set of components for the front doors and you'll barely even hear the rear speakers it would be a waste of money to replace them unless you have a pair thats better than stock laying around.

^ i have a pair of cheepo boss 250 rms 4 ohm
those together wld be 500 rms, but i dnt know if i wanna throw those in there or not, they sound good and arnt to bad quality either, but really thought about the conversion of rear speakers to 6.5 with crossover and tweets, to match front
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390210608476&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

just wasnt sure of the idea and how well it will work

dont do the conversion its a waste of time/money and by the way those watts mean nothing because there isnt strict measurements to rate speakers so some companies say their speakers are 300 watts or 500 watts and really they are 70-80 watts specially the cheaper brands do that so dont take the whole watts thing too seriously. that boss speaker might be 250rms each but i'll get an alpine of the same size that is 100rms and it'll probably be louder who knows, but yea throw those boss 6x9's in the back and then focus on getting the front components and an amp for the front components trust me you will be extremely happy you did.

a capacitor will only help even voltage ripples...it won't let you (magically) output more power than the car can make.

if you dont want dimming, there's 3 options:

1. upgrade the electrical system
2. run less power
3. use more efficient drivers and amps

those are the ONLY things that will help with dimming. the best (and only) capacitor that will help is an AGM battery...but then you still only have 80A on tap, not including what the car needs to run itself and its peripherals.
