Yeahh when i get fogs, i plan on getting HID's as well. is there anything i should be concerned about?

Running them for a long time, they will get hot, so you have to be mindful of that.

Also, keep in mind that you will want to mount the ballasts in a secure location that will not allow them to get jarred much or wet. Mounted on the re-bar is a more popular location.

okayy, hmmm honestly dont know where the re-bar is located but ill make sure i find a secure location.

Also i've read not to put HID's in fogs cuz when you unlock your car they go off with you parking lights and burn your ballasts up

Not the rebar; the bumper support. It's the big *** metal, frame-like bar running across the front of the car when you take off the bumper. There are pictures of it on here somehwere....

Just don’t leave the fog switch depressed all the time. Only turn them on while driving, and turn them off when you get to your destination. Same idea as not using the auto headlight feature when you have HID lowbeams.

The what.....????

Ideally, fog lights are only to be used...in...fog. How often does that happen in your area? I can tell you, Ive seen fog so thick that it warranted fog lights, maybe 3 times in my life, lol.

Yeah, that.

I have seen the ballasts mounted beside the windshield washer resevoir as well and on the other side in the same location.

*Mike’s ears perk up. Haha

Not sure which trims have this, but I know my EX does. If you leave the headlights on, get out of the car, and lock it….they stay on for 10-20 seconds then turn off. Then if you unlock the car or open the door, they headlights will turn on. Problem with this is, if you have HID lows, when you get in the car and turn the key to the on position to start it, the headlights turn off while the car starts, then turn on again. So if you leave the auto lights on with HID lows, you will essentially have fired the ballasts twice before they stay on, which shortens ballast life obviously.

Make sense? You really didn’t know this? I am surprised...:lawl:

I agree. But with HID lows and yellow fogs…having them on just looks cool lol (like an old school Lexus GS/ES). But I don’t use my fogs that much anymore since I discovered that the PIAA bulbs I use only last about a year if I use them a lot…which sounds bad, but they’re intense when lit so it just means they’re built to make a lot of light when you need it…so I only use them in fog or rain (I’ve found that yellow light helps illuminate the white road lane lines at night in heavy rain).

But people that run them all the time or in the middle of the day…yeah, kinda annoying.

I have never tried that with my headlights...although now that I have a retro, I don't think it would work quite the same, does it?

^It would work the same way, you’re still using the stock harness to get power to them. But like I said, with HID lighting, I wouldn’t make it a habit.

I hardly run with my lights on anyway(when the car was actually driveable....), and when I did at night, out of habit, I just turn them off.
