Another unrelated concern - what settings should coils be on for storing a car in one place? My Tein SS are still on the stiffest setting since I stopped driving the car, is there a need to reduce stiffness or do anything else to prevent damage from standing for a while?

Bump for this question.

He doesn't have the F-series listed as available, but being Bisi, I'd be willing to bet he can get them.

Well seeing how these are $400 cheaper, I may have to go with these, especially if they are just as rugged/high end as Crower. Aren't the K20 same rods as F23 anyways? Even if he doesn't have F23 dedicated rods, can't I use the K20A2 ones?

^^ I doubt this will hurt them.

^The k20 has a different stroke and different crank journal.

Thanks for the rod info. I'm not worried about thugs either in terms of my coilovers, or anything else. My car is garaged. I was more inquiring about which the optimal setting is for coils when storing a car for a period of time without using it. What is best stiffness/looseness and height to prevent coilover stagnation damage.

Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 10/10/10*

the k20a2 has different rod specs than the k20a3 rod specs
you can use k20a3 rods but not k20a2 rods
these are the comparison between the f23 Rods and the k20a3 rods
very similar just a lil shorter
this is stickied on f23 internals on subforum (engines and stuff)

Crower Rod Comparison between F23 and K20:

B93749B-4 F23 5.551 1.890 0.780 0.866(22mm) 0.780
B93733B-4 K20A3 5.453 1.890 0.780 0.866(22mm) 0.780

First number is the length. (the only difference between the two)
Second number is the bottom end or BE bore. (the larger end that connects to the crankshaft)
Third number is the BE width.
Fourth number is the PE or pin bore. (smaller end of the rod that connects to the piston)
Fifth number is pin width.

does anyone make like 9:1 pistons for the f series motor? that way if u get the k20a3 rods which are a bit shorter it should lower the compression ratio. prob get you back to mid-high 8's

Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 10/10/10*

Will I have a problem due to lower compression if I get K20A3 rods (which are shorter), CP 87mm oversize pistons 8.5:1, and bore the sleeves .5 over to accomodate these larger pistons?

I have the pistons now. I can get rods too, but want an alternative to paying $770 from raceeng. The Eagle and Carillo rods are $300-$400 but they are made for K20A3. You can see the clear difference.

So in essence, how much will using the K20A3 rods with the above described setup drop the compression; what will the resulting ratio be? I am unsure of how that is calculated.

I am not looking for 9:1 CP pistons, as I already have my pistons purchased.
