Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 5/25*
That's a good idea Nate, I've wanted to do this for quite some time, but haven't found the part, the time, and the funds yet. The other issue may be the motor mount / downpipe clearance after the V-band is installed. I have heard people having issues with them on our setups, or maybe they just did it wrong or didn't go through with the project. I'll def look into it because you're right - it's way more convenient, hassle-free, and easy to disconnect.
Thanks for the help Brandon! Definitely good to know about bottoming and not torquing the bolts into the block.
I've assembled the head, so I'll be entertaining myself tomorrow tightening up studs, attaching sensors and hoses, and drilling/tapping out the broken downpipe bolt.
More updates tomorrow.
Ive broken those bolts before. luckly mine always sat out alittle just enough to get them with the vice grips. I dont know how much it would put you out of your way, but I would strongly recommend getting a vband attachment welding on to your down pipe where it meets the turbine. those things are amazing and save so much time. You never have to struggle with those annoying bolts that are right under the bend of the piping.

Here's a good guide, disregard the torque specs and orders and everything Camaro related.
I talked to a few people and this guide and they both says the studs do not need to be torque, just bottomed out. Don't forget where the shorter (or is it longer?) stud goes too.
