Re: 6 gears > 4 [6spd + 3.2 swap]
And likewise. I always make these assumptions about what people are like in-person, based on their posts, and I like meeting them and either breaking that assumption or just getting a better impression of who they really are, outside the boards.
Have you had a chance to really let her out? I know aside from the obvious, is she faster/more responsive, etc? I imagine you're still in that placebo effect so it'll probably be a few weeks before you really feel the difference, lol.
Yeah it's always interesting to put a face to a username, and see a car in person. I try not to judge people, but it's inherent in human nature to do so, lol.
Rich gave it the beans a few times while I was there...thing is a screamer. It feels so much more powerful now due to the 6spd, the numbers that went with the J30 didn't really apply because the auto robbed so much power. So what the J30 would have had (200hp/195lb ft) and a lot more has suddenly been released...and the effect is pretty ridiculous. The motor redlines at 7k rpm, VTEC "kicks in" at 4200 rpm (which I haven't even done yet), and there is so much pull I have to let the clutch out pretty slowly just so I don't chirp the tires or jerk the car (but this is also due to me not being great at driving it yet, lol).
But to answer your question, much much faster, and tons more responsive. The numbers come so much faster. Getting on an on-ramp to the freeway is quite a lot of fun, even as conservatively as I'm driving now.
Nice! Congrats
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the guidance and advice. Wish I could see your car.
Very clean swap, Congrats to you my friend!
Thank you very much. I will take some photos of the various parts that were added, just to give you guys an idea of how clean this was done. Rich did an absolutly AMAZING job with making everything look OEM. Like the clutch fluid reservoir...just looks like it belongs where it is. Nothing was ghetto rigged, all proper hardware, bushings, gaskets, etc were used. Which is thanks to the tools, fab skills, and attention to detail Rich possesses.
Hey just curious, how did you put the badge on your steering wheel. Did you use tape or something else?
It came with adhesive on the back.
That shift knob looks amazing. You should cut your shifter a little and make new threads and it would look a lot better. Up to you though.
Oh and I wonder how hard would it be to put in CL-S instrument panel?
I typically like the look of shorter shifters too. I am going to let myself get use to driving it before doing anything like that though. Maybe down the road.
Not sure, I haven't looked a 2G CL/TL gauge pod in awhile. I know there would be two issues though, 1) fitment, and 2) wiring. The latter of which would be a nightmare for someone like me. lol If I do anything, I would get the heated seats/switches and wire them up.
congrats...
really look amazing specially the shift knob
Thanks, I loooove the shift knob. The motor needs some cosmetic work to make it look pretty, but honestly right now I am just recovering from all the work this took, lol. I'll touch it eventually.
Nice to see it in dude after all this. lol
You said you used the 7th gen accord tranny right?
It's compatible with the j32a2?
Yeah, the 7G AV6, 3G TL, and 2G CL-S trannies are compatible with the J32.
Congrats! This is how the car should have came from the factory
Couldn't agree more man. Honda gave this car great exterior and interior styling...but when it came to giving it passion under the hood...nothing. If they had released it as such, I guarantee these cars would be so much more desirable and highly sought after by enthusiasts. Even if Honda just gave the J30 a 6MT, it would have been tons better. Can't believe it took them until 2003 to give their V6's a manual...
nice clean work, congrats.
any plans on removing that ex emblem on your glove compartment lid?
Thanks, even with a slightly bigger motor, seems like there is more room under the hood now.
Hmm...maybe. I like it for now. No one else does though, lol.
