Hello 6GA. Just got this home. A friend had tranny problems with this one, so he decided to go for a '11 BMW. Sold it to me for 2k. I think it's a good pick up since a rebuild is usually around 1k (my guess) and has relatively low miles for a 99. My current 95 EX has 202k :slap:

1999 / 4 cyl / EX / Auto / 117K.
On the way home, I loved the way it rode. More room everywhere and more compartments. another thing, no rust!!! 94/95 are cancerous :( I'm expecting to learn a lot from you guys.

I'm looking into new headlights, morimoto retro, intake, clean up the engine bay, replace/clean rusted bolts, rear roof spoiler, front lip... and mayyyybe, just maybe... lower it a bit. Can't really lower much since NYC aren't the best for lowered cars.

I'll throw my 5th gen in here since I like to show my accord love :)

I'm going through thread after thread looking for info on using a different auto tranny. Rebuilding this tranny is my last option, since it's the crappiest 4cyl auto out of all F series engines. I rather use, if possible, the 5th gen auto since it's easier to source and it's less prone to slip. I'm keeping it auto guys, no 5spd swap yet.

If you guys can help shed some light, I would appreciate it. I tried "auto h22" "auto f22" "auto swap" searches. phew ... reading is exhausting! lol

Thanks guys! :peace:

Don't rebuild the autotragic!! Lol since its a 4banger just do a 5 speed swap!!! There's plenty of info on here about the swap and its much more reliable. Then importantly, LOWER IT FIRST, and in that department, coils are your best option, then adjustable shocks and springs! Don't get springs on stock shocks. Then do rims. Good to see another NY guy on here!

Enjoy and REMEMBER TO SEARCH!!!

Thanx guys.

I know the 5spd swap is more reliable :( But, in order for the wife to be a little happy, I would have to get this thing on the road with an auto. I rather not listen to the complaining lol. A drop is almost looking mandatory with this one! Coils would be the best way to go... wish I did that with my 5th gen. Lucky for me, is that this 4 lug matches the rims I already have so I'm ok for now. Would love a 5 lug swap though, opens up so many other options for wheels

I love how clean the interior is. Headlights are easy to restore they sell kits at auto parts stores. Welcome to 6GA:thumbsup:

i have coils for sale too. im not shipping but you live in NYC. a bunch of us from the nyc area chill once in a while. a bunch of them live in brooklyn too. and when you say NYC isn't a place to be lowered you should check out these guys cars. my accord was slammed too. it's just a matter of if you can handle it or not. since your wife drives im gonna say don't slam it, but drop it.
