They "tried" (unsuccessfully thank god!!) to make a law here where you weren't even allowed to use GPS navigation on your cellphone..... mainly due to the iPhone not having voice prompting and people were having accidents whilst trying to work out where they were on the maps.

is it me or has anyone else noticed that people using bluetooth/headsets drive worse than people talking with the phone in hand?

I all for the cell phone law.
Remember I live in Jersey
I'm tired of women talking on cell phones driving there large SUV's and tailgating.
Or it's those prissy teenage girls driving their scion TC's and texting.

Sometimes I get in front them, and when the vehicle in front of me stops, I wait till almost the last second and start to slow down, then I watch behind me as their car takes a nose dive and they hit their brakes

i think that driving and talking on the phone is no big deal...most of the cars on the road have automatic transmissions and power steering...if you take away those...it can be dangerous...a law should be passed?

...maybe not...i want cops looking for dangerous drivers not rule breakers...if you are driving dangerously you should be pulled over whether you are talking on the phone or eating a burger...i think it's a dumb law set in place by old people who resent younger people who can do more than one thing at a time...not saying that it's the safest thing...but saying that there are allot of factors that should be taken into consideration at the discretion of police officers....

i would rather a human being make a decision that something is dangerous than having them see someone breaking the law and give a ticket if it's someone using a cell phone and driving normally...

Couldn't agree more. There are lots of bs laws made to restrict your freedom. Add to those reasons that we need money in the state budget, badly... They rely on people agreeing it's a bad thing, which most users here have. Nothing wrong with doing whatever in the cabin, texting, talking, getting a bj what have you as long as you follow the road rules.

some drunks can drive normally...

devils advocate :hide:

i think it also comes down to "I'm a good driver. i can ______ no problem."

Exactly, and F1 driver should be allowed to drive at more than 65 on the fwy.

I almost drove off the road a few times last year...trying to get my bluetooth to work, or hiding my phone and activating speakerphone while talking. This law does more bad than good. It's efficient to talk on the phone and drive and I can do it no problem and rip on the H22 while at it.
