I don't think you should freak out, yet. I told you there will be some bugs to figure out with the swap. You haven't paid in full for the swap yet, give the guy a chance to figure it out before you do anything stupid, like sell the car. Most mechanics have not done 6th gen swaps before, like mine. I agree with the other posters about the timeline you have to get your car done. Swaps aren't always so smooth. You cannot rush these things if you want it right. Again what ECU is he running? You might need to convert to OBD1, I did. My mechanic told me the same thing about my stock exhaust. He might have a point, but I don't think that is the problem in your case. Good luck.

That should be a pretty easy thing of him to check on his own though right? I know both sensors have the same connector and they're easily switched.
OP is the car with you? Can you try switching the MAP and TPS connectors to see if that fixes your problem?

No bro i dont have the car with me, but im going there tomorrow to ***** at em. Idk what ECU he's running in there JEER . Its the Stock ecu for the F23 and the motor didnt even come with a harness which he said doesnt matter.. Im gonna go tell em to switch the sensors tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem, if not, then he has till wednesday to get me my car back or im taking my deposit and my car home asap, nd if he doesnt wanna do that , then he's going to court because he bs'd his way out of this.. hows this for a pickup time statement :

Mechanic: "Hey Waqar (my name) , Come and get her, she's ready!"
Me: REALLY!? Sweet im on my way dude.
Mechanic: "Hey the car is 90% done, but you can drive it like this, just needs to be tuned for optimal power, but the car is fine like this"
Me: Umm... Test drive first. ( car bounces off revs at 2.5k, check engine comes on) .. *goes right back to shop*
Me: The car isnt ready, its check engine light is flashing. Fix it NOW.
Mechanic: Really? thats weird ive had it running fine since 2PM (it was now 5:30)
Me: Well Idk.. I want my car fixed, call me when its done. (this was ffriday)
Mechanic: Okay.


Its now monday night, still no call. Im going there tomorrow to get this whole thing figured out cuz my dad whos funding half this project is furious bc he suggested selling it but i wanted to be an OG and keep the 6th gen cuz i love it so much. Im not lettin down this easy, this fu**er better have my car done by wednesday or hes DONE.

Just a thought, but if the CEL came on.... couldn't you pull the code and find out what exactly is causing the CEL to come on??
Even the old paperclip trick would suffice.

hey guys, i dont know the engine check code, i went there today and blew up. He said its still not ready but he fixed the rev issue problem apparently. I asked him to give me a test drive and he said that the guys are out test driving it right now, which i suppose was true since the car wasnt in the garage. I asked him what was causing the issue and he goes , oh The plugs were bad, so i had to get new plug wires and now that issue is fine. The only issue that remains is that according to him is the following:

Mechaninc: "Your f23a1 has 2 cam position sensors. The F20b only has 1 therefore you have one sensor taht isnt doing anything. This is why you still have the check engine light on, and we're working on getting around that so that the light turns off and the car doesnt need to use that sensor."

That is the reason the check engine light was coming on, im not sure what the CEL code is for that but thats what he told me was the issue. He said we're shooting for having the car done tomorrow! AKA Wednesday (Eastern Time here in jersey).. I swear if my car isnt done tomorrow, Im going to give him till friday and if he still comes up with some bs excuse, then im taking him to court. I saw my bill and so far its 3,600 for the swap + anything he's had to buy for teh car which includes the clutch, plugs , custom intake he fabricated, re-surfacing the flywheel , clutch master cylinder, trans slave cylinder, all which had to be replaced according to him. he also took 300$ to install the shocks and springs which is rediculous but idc i just want my car back. On top of this cost is what ive provided, which was the Shocks/springs which were 469.99. (tokico blues+tokico lwering springs) .. so my grand total will be over 4k for this whole thing to be done, BY tomorrow or else ima bug his a$$ till hes done friday and if not then, then im not giving him any more time, im taking him to court straight up because this is rediculous. :gride:

see thats the thing. i dont know if the car will be done. Im scared as hell i dont know what to do. This guy has a huge investment of mine just sitting there and i dont know if hes trying to play cards or is going to give me my car back anytime soon within the next 1000 years :(

ok man this is my .02 dont take it personal but after reading all this i dont know why you would get an engine that needs maintanence in the first place you should of just gotten the engine build her up and go from there....now you have more on your plate to deal with and on top of that you are starting school. now this guy is making promises that he isnt even sure on and he doesnt even know exactly whats wrong plus he has someone else test driving the car why? should he do it since he is the one fixing it and most likely better diagnose the problem better since he knows what he has done so far another thing is that you already paying so much money and your gonna want to do more just to get more hp out of that engine and not to mention probably maintanence and the ecu.....im sorry man but you rushed into this to fast. in a way its f**ked up because when you think about it this mechanic probably knew all this and it sounds like he just took advantage of your noobness by making you do all this and what does he care all he saw was easy money.

glad the car will be done but damn 4k for that? might as well just gotten a turbokit for your f23...
^this :rwerd: its ok thou lots of ppl make mistakes we are all human ....just try to hang in their and dont lose that love for your car ... i would of been one of them too if i didnt sign up for this site and read so many things that ppl have done or made friends on this site that gave me pointers and heads up thanks 6ga really

all you can do is expect the worse and hope for the best and do some research and get ready for a fight if they dont have your car fixed the more you know the better good luck man really hope it turns out great for you and we get to see that car running soon.


ps. another thing dont be afraid to demand them show you the cel codes and what not ...when i take my car to the mechanic they usually say ok you can go and come back i tell them no i rather stay ....when i first had my clutch changed i stood their the whole day until it was done...its your car and your responsible for it just cuz they have it for a few days or what ever dont mean you dont have the right to know or see exactly what is going on with YOUR car.
