I've been trying diffrent oils every 3months and found out that certain oil brands will sludge and caramelize the vtec seloniod screen. Castrol, autozone, mobil 1 are major sludgers in my experiment. Oil that works good is royal purple and pensoil. Just wanted to give a heads up for guys that have lost power and car in safe mode; your screen is prob clogged.

I(as well as two of my friends) never ran anything other than mobil 1 full synthetic in every honda I(we've) have owned and never had a problem with it, never ran the cheap mobil 1 though.

Royal purple starved my h22 head of oil. I'd recommend against it.

The cause of sludging are In-frequent oil changes. All oils sold have the basic sae requirements. That include detergents, some engines are more prone to sludge than others, yes.

Some oils go above and beyond the sae requirements, like synthetics. But all oils have a balanced chemistry to them. U shud never see sludge in any car if u change ur oil every 3-4000k or every 3 months with ur basic on sale oil at autozone, o'rielly etc...
