Alright.. just got back from a decently reputable shop around my area (Mazz Autosport).

Here are the things they told me to replace/fix.

Both axles are bad.
Linkage for front sway bar?
Alternator Belt/Fan Belt or something has cracks (can you really check it visually? cause they just showed me and I do see some little cracks but I'm just not sure)

Parts & labor.. they said will come out to be about $450. Does that sound correct?
Any input guys? I don't want to fix anything that really is not necessary to fix.

I'mma talk to my dad about it tonight and maybe bring it to another shop and see what they say too.

$450 really doesn't seem that bad to be honest... most of it is labor though. $150 for axles, $40-50 for 2 belts, $50 for stabilizer links + $200 in labor seems very fair.

Take it to a few shops and get an average price. I personally would expect any shop with "sport" in the name to charge a bit more.

the axles you need to have somebody do it, unless any one of you guys have that tool

What tools are we talking about? A 36mm socket? :lawl: The 181 lb-ft of wheel bearing preload on the spindle nut is VERY important for bearing life and noise, a lot of people don't pay attention to that detail.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck my car is doing the same stuff. i just got my timing belt done and when i got the car back its been making some stupid *** sounds man..sounds like clunking stuff i thought my belt was loose or it skipped a tooth or whatever timing belt crap there is and i brought it back to the shop and we test drove it with me in the passenger seat so i can hear it better but it really doesnt sound like its coming from the timing belt and they cant figure it out either. but when they took a sledge hammer tapped my tires i heard like a clunk sound but they said it was the rotors or something.

also, how come after they replaced my timing belts/water pump/ps belt and whatever else it came with my acceleration seems rougher? like it seems....slower?

help please...all this maintenance n **** is costing too much

If timing is off a tooth it can cause poor power. Acceleration issues come and go and are not always related to timing, it would be the last thing to check, especially if you haven't been up on regular maintenance like air filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, etc.

Clunks are almost always suspension related and it sounds like you need to take it to a different shop.

Lastly, a timing belt job is hardly maintenance. You only have to do that job twice in the life of the car on average. Comparatively, our Accords are extremely low maintenance and have a low cost of ownership. Want to know how many Hondas have rolled into my shop in the last 2 months? 3 high mileage Civics... with front end clunks and they drove away paying less than $300 every time. Compare that to the domestics we work on that normally have 1 common problem that is almost always expensive to fix (GM 3100/3400/4300 intake manifold gaskets, Ford 4.6L V8 exhaust manifolds cracking, GM Jimmy/Blazer/Bravada front ball joints, etc., etc.)

Update

I just came back from my dad's friend's shop that specializes in hondas. He told me that the alternator belt seems fine (other shop's tryin' to rip me off I guess). As far as the axles go, I told him that I could only hear a clunk when the car is cold (going straight and on uneven roads). The small knock is quite random too as it doesn't always happen on uneven roads. So I gotta leave it overnight next week when I'm free and see if he can find anything.

But as I suspected, when I went on a test drive with him, he heard the "humming noise" from the wheel bearing in the rear passenger side and he's gonna replace the whole hub for $200? Seems fair.

If he can't find anything wrong with the axles, I'mma go to a v6p member's shop and ask him to check it out some more. His username is MuGENStyleV6TEC, in case someone wants to know.

The textbook definition of a worn out drive belt is 3 or more cracks per inch of belt.

$200 for a hub seems like a legit deal. Wholesale cost from FMP is about $100 for an NTN bearing, while the bearing + hub is $90 from a company called National. Not sure if your guy can get "shop cost" on parts, it's probably $120-140 at the dealer wholesale.
