I would just wait and buy some used ones on craigslist. I seen tien in the past for around 75. Anyways bout your queation. I would cut the springs or heat them. I know a few people that done it and rides good. But dont do no out of control lowering if your going to do it.

Just leave the car the way it is. You're being impulsive and irrational. You will look like a complete idiot bouncing around and regret this.

Ugh.

be like it is
the irony in doing this is twofold:

1. 180k mile shocks arent going to last long with either method, meaning you'll have to do the work twice...once to install the ebay coils or cut the stock springs, again when the shocks blow in a few months
2. spending $0 on cutting springs or $50 on ebay coil sleeves will be leading to $200+ shock/strut replacement anyway :lawl:

#2 is a given...it WILL happen. the car will also ride like #2 if you catch my drift :lawl:

Ah I understand where you are all coming from but to me this car is a learning project. It really doesnt have much hope as the interior/exterior/and motor are all pretty beat. Im sanding down the body and bondoing the car to learn simple body work, and the taking off the suspension and springs is just a learning experience also.

Ive been convinced against the ebay coilovers and am leaning more towards the ksports. but that is still way more than id like to pay. I've been driving around my school everyday lookin for mom and pop auto shops that will let me wrench on my car for free just to learn so its pretty clear that im looking to do this cheap and just doing it for the love of working on cars. Maybe I could just cut the rear springs to level the car out, and then get k sports in the front? The last thing I ever want to be doing is nothing.

Since I am a student living a block off campus, this car will primarily be driven a few miles to a shop to work on it, or to the store for food and groceries. Other than that, I dont see it getting driven much so not much stress/time would be put on the car. Not the few hundred miles a week i was putting on her before.

Just leave it alone. Please...

Edit: If you love your car that much, then you shouldn't be doing anything that will only cause it pain/money in the long run.

Then beat it with a baseball bat then. At least you'd gain something useful from it like muscles.

1 body work is about removing dents with as little bondo as possible so hope u got a dent puller/stud gun to learn body work

2 only retards put on ebay sleaves or cut springs, sry for bluntness but ul havta understand that both are puttn ur life and the cars around u in danger its irresponsible

3 close thread before other new members start to consider such bs:thumbsup:

edit: spring combos never go on stock struts with a drop more than 1.5
