Hey guys,
Just looking for some educated useful input. I have a J32A2 motor in my 98 AV6. Im still using the 4AT and a 2000 AV6 PCM. Im just looking to improve highway gas mileage. The original V6 got 33 mpg highway. The type S motor gets 28. Even tho its not bad mileage, i'd like to improve it if practical. I assume there are reasons why people dont drop say 2 or 3 cylinders while on the highway when the extra power is not really needed. I figured to drop them, it would be easy to mount a switch on or under the dash, cut and solder the correct selected cylinder wires from the PCM that grounds the injectors. The cylinders would still have spark but no fuel. Im sure the engine wouldnt run very smooth but what other problems would this create? What am i missing? It seems too easy. I looking for input from people that really knows these engines. Thanks
