Cost plus you can use bigger pads with the bigger calipers. Best way is probably the Brembo Gran Tourismo kit but after that I'm not sure which has better stopping and fade resistance: AEM/PowerSlot Plus BBK vs. Accord V6 calipers/Prelude VTEC rotors/Accord V6 pads combo.

How about cost and still able to run 15" rims vs. 17" minimum for both of those BBK's.

good thread....also remember that if you do any repetitive braking at auto-x, track, or even a steep mountain road to use a good brake fluid that won't boil over easy...Castrol LMA is a good one for the money...

Hey guys, been away from the forums for a while.

For any interested: I use this brake setup (with rear disc conversion) at the track weekly (lapping). I use Superblue Racing brake fluid, its DOT 4, but is just AMAZING. No break fade what-so-ever, even with back to back 20 minute lapping sessions.

Reason I did this and not all fancy slotted, crossdrilled, BBK, etc, was primarily the fact that These cars don't need much more. Even for the more aggressive brakers! I doubt any of you guys race the car in competition. For street/track, this setup is amazing. Cost is also a nice plus.

You can go slotted if you want to eat your pads unnecessarily. Crossdrilled is useless unless you want to change your disc more often from warpage and/or cracking. Ferraris, BBKs, etc, are all crossdrilled for the sole purpose of weight savings. Your brakes are after all rotating mass. (PS - F1 uses solid discs!)

so then maybe it's a stupid question... but then wouldn't 92-96 Prelude VTEC brake kits fit our model as well? transitive property? lol

Well I don't know if the Prelude VTEC calipers fit our Accords OK so I went with the sure setup of 98-02 Accord V6 calipers. But yeah, Prelude VTEC FRONT brake kits SHOULD fit without any problems, but you have to make sure the brake kit comes with the Prelude VTEC calipers as well or that you already have Prelude VTEC calipers on, otherwise those BBK's will not fit on your stock calipers and brackets.

92-96 Prelude VTEC (23T)
96-97 jdm ITR (23T)
95-02 Accord v6 (95-97=25T,98-02=23T?)
2nd gen Acura Legend (1 piston=23T, 2 piston=28T)
Acura NSX (28T)

all use the same brake caliper, but some have different caliper brackets. The best thing about our 4cyl 6th gens is that u can also just swap out the entire knuckle from a V6 and have the bigger brake upgrade and a 5-lug setup, just by bolting everything up.

oh yeah, the number next to each model stands for the caliper bracket number which also measures the thickness of the rotor that they are compatible with, if im not mistaken
