you should dremel out your VTEC solinoid. it makes valve lift substantially greater. that, combined with your dremeled TB, and maybe some tornado fuel savers in your intake, should combine for about 14,543 HP and...well no torque cuz these motors dont do the whole "torque" thing...

Well i guess you guys must think im a jackass. I honestly read alot of diys about boring youe own TB and porting your head with a dremel. There is a reason i asked people with a little more experience than i before sanding away my throttle body i obviously saw some problems with the DIYs these chevy ford truck owners wrote. But if i worked its be a fun project.

Anyways not to keep dragging it on but.... What about knifing the butterfly plate woult that screw everything up too? Im acually not even sure what the purpose of knifing the plate is but im sure the boring DIYs i read did it for a reason. Also would just lighly sanding with 1000 grit and polishing help or screw things up. I do have plans going here and decided i will get another oem TB maybe from the junkyard or something and send it in to max bore along with another manifold but this wont be going on the current engine i have now. Just looking for something fun to do while cleaning all the stuff up.

As for the coolant bypass yes i agree it is nice to not have coolant heating your TB. But as far as if its worth it idk. I read the diy in another honda forum and some people were saying that it screwed up there idle, something to do with the IACV no being at the right temp or something.. It apparently doesnt happen to everyone but seriously idk about this mod i mean eventually the TB will just get heat soak anyways and i dont think your even going to see a more than a quater hp gain to the crank especially after the heat soak.

Like i said i dont wanna come off like a moron, im learning as i go and i have a real DIY spirit, i read AFAccords HT thread on swapping to an h23 manifold and saw all the maching he did to that gatorlite to taper the head and IM to a smooth transistion thought it was cool. I even read a thread on here where a guy did a light port polish to his head with dremel no one told him he was messing it all up. Just trying to learn and DIY.

I plan on building a full engine for my honda and am sorda experimenting right now with things i can afford and DIY on my current engine.

Anyways any info about wether knifing the plate and polishing the TB is a good idea would be appreciated. Like i said ive seen others do this stuff, ive also seen others glue autozone hood scoops to there civic. Some things are an obviously a stupid idea but for a noob who can do all his own maintence including engine swaps (not to diffrent engines but replacing the same one) sometimes when it comes to modding a car for performance its hard to sift through whats crap and whats legit as far as DIYing goes.

~$100 - Maxbore.com - Done.

No worries, no issues, and it's done professionally.

You can DIY all you want to your hearts desire, but if you don't know what you're doing, you're going to screw something up.

Stop giving the guy sh*t.

It's not a good idea to bore your TB yourself, since the butterfly needs to have perfect fit for the orifice. Polishing and porting your intake and exhaust ports on your head is different - there is no butterfly that needs to fit in that space and turn on an axis.

As Greg said: www.maxbore.com it for best results.

port matching and gasket matching can be done with a dremel tool , but with a steady hand a lots of time trued practice. leave that stuff to pros

We're not talking about that sire, we are talking about TB boring if you read carefully.

was that really required, i was just letting him know what may be achieved with the dremel instead of bashing and acting like a tool.
