Okay, so it appears this is the coilover that most people on this forum have chosen to go with. I fully expect a stiffer ride, but I'm sure it can't be much worse than the 2" lowering springs I have on stock struts. lol

I've read the product review threads, but most of those are people that have just recently had their suspension set up. I'm looking more for the long term reviews. How long have you had your coilovers? Have you had any major issues such as coilovers going bad? Can you buy single coilover replacements?

I've also read that lowering too much will cause damage to the coilover. How low is okay for FFs? Are there any noticeable differences between Types I and II that would warrant the extra $200? The lowest I may be looking to go is 3" in the front and maybe 2.5" in the back.

Thanks for any help. I've recently blown my back shocks and I'm looking to get some coilovers soon. I'm also considering Tein Street Basis coilovers, but I've read too many bad reviews about the Basics.

Full coils(quality ones) will not get damaged by being too low on them.

They are designed to function throughout the adjustability range that they come in.

Messing with things like preload, will damage your coilovers.

Function&form do offer replacements on struts if they ever blow on you.

I read in depth about product quality and longevity. There were more pros then cons. you could get better quality possibly for a higher cost but at that price point based on reviews I cant complain.

My first set of type ones were okay until a year and a half in. One of the back ones blew. I bought a new set and installed them. 2 days later another back coilover blew. Good thing is I have a warranty this time lol. Other than that , I have no complaints.

Thanks for all the responses. It seems the more you spend the better product you'll get, but I haven't always found that to be true with aftermarket products. I found FF type Is for $599 and some Tein Street Basis for $630. I'm leaning more towards the softer Teins, but I've heard about imitation Teins.

Should I call the company and ask them directly for a reputable distributor?

It looks legitimate, but I don't see any reviews.

And another thing, I've read about coilovers reusing the upper strut mounts and dust covers. Is that something 6gen owners need to look into when choosing coilovers?

For Teins and a couple of other coilovers, you have to re-use your OEM top mount. F&F, Ksport, Megan, D2, and such come fully assembled with the top mounts.

To be honest, F&F's are decent coilovers for their price point. While I was researching my "clunking issue" I ra into many threads on Google where cars with JICs or Ohlins (considered to be top-notch coilover systems) have had noise issues or blown struts shortly after installation. It's also a matter of luck too, to be honest. Some have had their F&F's for 4 or 5 years without issues and some have had blown shocks within a year. But at $75 a pop for a replacement strut from F&F, it's not all too bad.

Just make sure that you set the preload according to F&F guidelines before you install them, adjust height with the proper method, and avoid potholes and such as much as you can. Following these tips will prolong the life of your coilovers usually.
