so i decided to go ahead and start ordering parts to turbo the j30.. so far I have the intercooler, wastegate, blow off valve, a bunch of polished pipe that i have to take to the muffler shop, sandwich plate, and oil feed and return line.. next up turbo (gonna take a min)

wat im needing to know is how much boost can i run on this motor without blowin it up?? and are there any aftermarket performance parts for this motor?? i.e. cams, pistons, sleeves, rods, etc, etc?? if so where?? google isnt helping..

you could probably run 8-10psi safe on a stock block. but more importantly, what transmission are you running? if you say stock, you better do a trans swap first, because youll go through transmissions more often than changing underwear. idk about cams, but im sure you can get the rest from common performance companies...v6p probably has a little more info on that type of stuff.

lol, yeah right. that ****s going to blow up like the fourth of july.

its no secret that the autos on the v6s are complete garbage at best and can barely deal with what the j30 puts through them, let alone what theyd have to go through with addition power/stress. even the old dr evil performance rebuilt autos from back in the day werent all that great...the auto just sucks altogether. seriously dude, you should 6mt swap it before you do any turbo work...i mean, if you want a car you can enjoy and drive.

There has been a recall by honda for the j30 auto trans basically since they came out and ended about a year ago. They use to stockpile them at the dealers and do atleast 20 a week.

Theres some techs that can have them out and a new one in and running in about two hrs.

There are some members ive seen tho running boost on the auto trans. If you maintain everything and dont beat on it constantly you Might be alright

well, the motor itself isnt that bad, the trans is crap though for real. the j30 is obviously the less desirable of the j series motors, most people swap in the j32 or j35. i dont know of any internal parts off hand since ive always dealt with the f23's, sorry. but im sure someone will see this who knows a lot more than i do, haha. also, like i said, v6p should have a lot of info regarding turbo j motors, so definitely check out what they have over there as well. for cams, idk about aftermarket, but i know a lot of people used to swap in the cl-s cams, from the j32, and intake manifolds and such as well.

plus, if you do 6mt swap it, you get a decent amount of power with just that since theres less drivetrain loss...even on a stock j30. good luck on the project though, it would definitely be a fun car in the end.

Better add a transmission to that list. Yeah if you don't beat on it you might be alright...but if you spend all that money turbo'ing what's the fun in pussyfooting the car around all the time? I say put that money toward a manual swap, you'll be happier.

The 3.0 is a good motor, it's solid because it was over built, it literally can't hurt itself and will go forever. You can swap in CL-S cams, but unless your car is an 01-02, you'll need to notch the cams. And as Sketch said, people swap IM's too. There's a couple other things that can be done as well, PM AccordJ30a, he's done some work on his J30.
