Re: Going for a re-tune....

Just finished ordering studs and bolts from ATP to convert away from the standard bolts (that keep snapping) on the 5 bolt downpipe.

Also just ordered the AEM digital wideband gauge. Just got to figure out where to mount it......

I'm thinking about switching to a triple A pillar Pod, but that involves me painting the da** thing again prior to installing and seems like a pain in the a**, there were a couple other thoughts as far as putting the wideband on top of the steering column/in the console between the speedometer/tachometer, or the center cubby. (I think if I did the center cubby, I would want to put the boost gauge down there and have the wideband on the pillar though).... It'd be nice to put it in the vent too, or on the dash right adjacent to the a pillar.

Anybody have any thoughts on mounting locations?

More to come.

Get a gauge bezel dual pod, boost on the right, and wideband on the left. Put the rest of your gauges in the A-pillar triple pod, don't know how many other gauges you have - that's what it would depend on. Boost and wideband you should do what I suggested for sure though, unless you don't like that location at all.

Re: Going for a re-tune....

I have a dual gauge cluster pod ill sell ya cheap.fits like OEM around gauge cluster with pod on left/right. Ill take a photo if wanted :) let me know!

btw-took everything off,drilled and re-tapped the hole,now have 3 outta 4.beter than 2!
quick question,I put a new 3"cone K&N filter directly on the turbo itself, but was thinking of basically making a CAI for it that sits in the wheel well. but iv read itl loose power if I run a filter +.
sorry for off topic again.
also im running 12-13AFR at idle now with all my new setup..I dont want to drive it until further work +Tune.

^ It really depends on your tune whether you will lose power or not. Your idle/vacuum AFRs should be ~14.6, sounds like you may be wasting some fuel at idle by running rich.

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Oh BTW I was planning on driving it tomorrow so I went to go stop by and picked up and noticed my tabs were expired, so now I have to wait for 5-7 days for the tabs to arrive before I can drive it again..... sucks (once again its the stupid little stuff)...

Nikita/Monty - Appreciate the feedback. Currently have a dual pod on the A-pillar with mech oil pressure and boost on it. Honestly don't feel like going to a triple due to the fact that i'll have to re-paint and upholster it....

Thought about the dual gauge cluster pod system, but I don't necessarily need that fourth gauge pod as I have all the current key gauges. SO I actually decided on a single gauge cup that I will just mount right on the center of the cluster on the steering column:

That way it will be centrally located so I have it close by for now. If I ever want to change the location I can always Bondo and repaint the steering column top cover..... But again, appreciate the help a ton guys.

Monty- 3 out of 4 is better than 2 by far but since you have it out might as well go for all of them. I'll have to do the same to fully convert to studs on mine...

As far as the filter, it's not worth going into the wheel well, its too far of a distance from the turbo by far. Filter you don't necessary will lose power only at high horsepower will it start playing a factor in it. If you have the room build a box to keep the heat away from it, otherwise you can always just put a mesh around it and fasten it tightly against the inlet of the turbo. That'll keep the debris out but the air flowing.... it's kinda up to you.

As far as the A/F ratio, that's not too far off honestly and you would BY FAR rather be slightly too rich than too lean. It's gonna be harder to break something on you motor by throwing too much fuel at it, than too little.... How are you tuned? are you able to adjust the fuel yourself, if so try to knock it down slightly....

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Thought so. Well if you weren't going to get tuned next week I would say just pick up a different disc for time being for the FMU (depending on if yours is adjustable) but either way you'll be fine for the time being until you get the EMS....

Either way make sure you have all your exhaust leaks and sensors fixed before you get the tune and the AEM EMS. If you don't their gonna have to repair any issues prior to performing the tune for you.. (just an FYI)

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Well so far to date got the studs, nuts, washers, gauge pod.

Fed-ex is still having trouble delivering since they try to deliver to my apartment 3x's outside of the office hours..... So i'm waiting for it to arrive at a shipping location for pick-up.

Hopefully this weekend get everything switched over and see where it's at A/F wise.

Then figure out a day/time for a re-tune if all goes well....
