Re: Going for a re-tune....

Update! Just emailed the tuner this morning with a list of modifications, goals, etc. trying to set up a day/time to get re-tuned. The time is near..... :D

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Devin, I'm curious what prevented you from higher numbers the first time around. Was it strictly octane? Was your turbo becoming inefficient? Did you experience any detonation from exhaust gas reversion?

I'm assembling everything in preparation for boost, but the motor will be broken in without it. My tuning platform has already been 'perfected' on the car and the tuner and I know everything works in all-motor form. Once I install the turbo setup and tuning for boost begins, I intend to tune it up to my high-boost goal (400whp). Obviously nothing is certain, but barring any sensors going bad, leaks, or other unforeseen events, what is likely to prevent our F23 from hitting 400whp on 93 octane??

I'm going to read through your thread again and the threads of others looking for answers, but I just don't understand what seems to be handicapping built F23's at the ~350hp level.

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Working through setting a date right now, sent them dates that don't work, b/c the first one they gave I am out of town... lol go figure.

Aukoutmos -- Videos will be automatic. That's a given, and will post them up after.

AFAccord -- What prevented me from high numbers the first time was a few things. First right off the bat was mis-fires. Which is the reason I got the MSD. Second time around we hit 333whp, which was a good number, however I wanted to switch to E85 to get some better tuneability and numbers, in doing so came this awesome (saying that sarcastically) en devour of removing/reinstalling the head too many times to count, the timing issue and everything.

I know that if the rings/pistons havent been dealt with that will be the first thing that goes. Next is the fuel and spark that can easily get blown out without the help of tight gapping or addditional load for a stronger spark to prevent the blow out/misfiring issue.

The pump gas is a major thing as you can hit that 400whp goal, but even with a good tuner, there are problems with timing with pump gas versus e85. that is one of the main reason, much easier and safer to tune with e85 than pump gas and push the car further without fear of crossing that thin line into something breaking.

Does that help at all?

How do you like the msd compared to the stock dizzy? The reason why I ask is because I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on the msd. Ever thought about trying the aem pencil coils?

I have the MSD 6al and blaster 2 external coil actually. I kept the OEM dizzy and wired the blaster MSD ignition system into the OEM ignitor inside the OEM dizzy. I think it's easier that way. That way I oem parts but I actually get the increase in the spark to allow for better and higher boost levels....

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Yeah it keeps the stock ignition setup (Which is perfectly fine and no need to upgrade it) but adds that additional voltage/power to the spark so less mis-firing and more boost capabilities as that's what happened originally after 12psi.

Dyno time/date set -- Wed. May 16th at 2pm - 2 weeks away and can not be any longer ha. 1 year later i'm finally down to the last 2 weeks! :omghi2u:
