For those of you who have installed an intercooler on your 6th gen, maybe you can help me out. I just got my intercooler and I've been eyeing it up to install it. The specs are 28x7.5x2.5. I have the oem bumper, i was wondering what exactly you cut into to make it fit. It obviously wont fit without cutting.

I was looking at it and there's kinda two parts to the bumper. There's a black painted part and a grey non painted part, that's like a grill thingy you could say. I was thinking about removing the entire grey part. What did you guys do?

I haven't boosted my car yet, but It should be pretty self explanatory - I hope you have a dremel.

Why don't you mount piping and intercooler first, then mark what parts of the bumper are in the way. Mount it as close the the body as possible, to leave more room for bumper. Approximate your cuts to fit the intercooler, then fine-cut the rest after you have most bulky pieces cut away for fitment. I would recommend cutting out the lower grille completely if you're putting an intercooler in.. you should post some pics as well, we may be able to help more.

it can fit it you mount the intercooler correctly and far enough back that it dosnt hit the bumper/grille mainly.

i bolted mine right under the impact bar..well i welded 2 brackets for it to bolt up to.
i would recommend getting it mounted and run the piping 1st..then put those push pin clips around the grille area, and see what hits it.THEN start cutting..

if i could go back i wish i would have left my grill on. :(

Good tips guys. idk when i'm gonna actually do the work. This weekend maybe. I do need to buy/borrow/rent a dremel. Here's some pics so you know what I'm talking about.
This is behind the bumper, it's kinda hard to tell what it is now lol.

ill go take some pics of what i can with my bumper on real quick for ya,
your going to have to lose your washer fluid bucket on the side and cut some metal off over on that area.
does your intercooler have bolt bungs welded to the top/bottoms? or no.-> mine didnt so i had to weld a L bracket on my impactbar for it.
but if yours do,then go to the parts store and find couple LONG bolts thats long enough to go through your impact bar and into the intercooler.
im actually gonna get a new intercooler soon myself,i hate how mine looks and how small it is.

but for the bumper, on the sides where the grille is-**back side** there are like black cup like things, those stick out alot and get in the way no matter where your piping is.

Yeah, mine does have the bolt bungs. That's a good idea, could save a lot of cutting. Yeah, I might reroute the washer fluid, IDK, I might just ditch it. You don't need that for inspection do you?

i dont have inspection..so im not sure..but check mine out.
My intercooler is so fat i had no choice to chop my bumper up to fit the pipes..its 26x6x3.5.so its really deep. i hate it..i want the one that the pipes connects to the bottom and not the middle like mine..

I hope to get one eventually too. I got my intercooler on ebay from cxracing or something like that. It's not bad and was pretty cheap.
