There are a few threads about doing this theory on V6P and like 1 on here.. looks like this person has actually put it into practice.. Inverting the manifold direction. This has also been done on H22's and other builds too. Rare and overly complicated mod I'd say..

Yeah the biggest reason I see is it frees up the space needed to run a complicated FI setup
