Don't really know what caused it to be honest. I was beating on the car earlier in the night, but that's nothing out of the ordinary.

When I tried to pull the VSS out of the old casing, I noticed some 'shrapnel' had nicked the collar inside. I tried to round it out by twisting, but when I finally tried to pry it out, it broke off. :explode:

I got an H22 vss from a friend just to plug the hole so I could drive it, then realized the top electrical portion of my original vss bolted right up. Got everything installed and tightened up and went for a test drive. No speedo... :madrun: You'd be surprised how many things do not work when you have no VSS signal. :eusa_wall: (wipers, cruise, vtec just to name a few) Imagine my surprise when I punched it at 3k rpm and since the ecu thought I was at 0mph, the car instantly went into launch control mode with a nasty neck-jerking rev limiter...

Ended up picking up a complete H23 vss from a parts yard this morning, and bolted it up. Everything's fine now, and the rebuilt trans shifts like butta after I cleaned out all the super fine metal gunk between the synchros and shift collars. Unfortunately, I missed my tuning appointment. Better luck next time I guess...

With the exception of a short dinner break, it took me about and hour and twenty minutes to drop the trans from the car. It's disappointing that I'm so experienced at doing that. :eusa_wall:

not at all dude, im in the same boat. ive done abt 8-9 f series drops between me and my friends
