nail in tire pics

i plug tires with the nail in that spot a lot. i've done a bunch of those and none have came back. so it's do-able.

I have 2 opinions on this being a certified tire tech, 1. If you can afford it purchase a new tire, the location of that puncture is right on the edge of the steel belts making it iffy. 2. If you can not afford it make sure to get the plug kits that are rubber because the "fiber" or "rag" plugs will eventually wick moisture into the repair area. If you do choose to repair it yourself I would recommend not driving on it for at least 4 hours to make sure the glue is fully cured.

I had a nail in the same place once and one place told me that they could not do it because it was too close to the edge to be safe. I took it somewhere else and got it done.

that's a good start, but I prefer the tire plugs that are already "sticky" and self vulcanizing. Just less mess than the rubber cement.

I just had to plug my rear tire for a nail. Took me 20 minutes including time taking off the tire and inspecting the rear brakes.

looks like a 5/16 head tapcon. 1/4 inch threads... any plug kit should work, although I like the patch from the inside method personally. :thumbsup:

Patches are the best thing for it if done right. If you put a plug in it "tehnically" your not supposed to drive on the highway. It's realy close to the side wall, but it should be fixable. Take it in and ask if they have "plug patches". It utilizes both concepts: the plug and the patch.
