Because any wheel that doesn't cost $1k+ a piece will shatter into a million pieces when you hit a bump, durr.

No, but they will have more of a tenancy to bend/crack. Ask me how I know. I made the mistake of buying cheap wheels once, and I'll never do it again.

You get what you pay for.
