ok, i'm about to buy a G35 projector to do my retrofit. and then it hits me that. in order to do the retrofit, do i have to use the stock ballat? cause i see there are HID on ebay that has D2S HID kit. Can i use an aftermarket (ebay, or whatever) HID kit (that include ballats and bulbs) with D2s Bulbs of course and i'll make a DIY harness for the kit to plug in with my car OEM harness? WIll that work?

www.hidplanet.com sire, please invest time.

As long as bulbs are D2S and fit the projector, it should be fine no matter what kit you rig up. In my opinion though, if you invest in a retrofit, don't cheap out and get all quality parts.

be like it is
there are hid kit -> d2s connectors available.

however oem HID ballasts are light years ahead of anything made in china.

+1 on retrofit.

I have ebay HID ballast that I bought awhile ago before the retro, then I just swap in a D2S adapter which I bought from ebay for cheap. Its working fine for me. If you got the cash to get higher end ballast then go for it. Otherwise ebay ballast FTW.

i seen this '05 4Runner who did a retrofit on there SUV. he used a doggy bowl for the shrouds. BAHAHA. :icon_gay:

as long as the bulb fit the projector and it lights up, that is all you need. any d2s HID kit would work. but you need to make or buy a harness from 9006 to d2s connectors.

i recommend a higher quality HID kit instead of eBay quality. because the higher quality kit is much brighter which illuminates the light better than eBay kits. the eBay kits just have the color and not enough lumens.

ya, i already the DENSO ballast and bulbs, but i think i'm going to order some ebay bulbs though, with blue color. i don't really like the color of OEM bulbs, too yellow.

4300k is the best color and best output for a retrofit. you won't notice a big difference with 6000k with a retrofit.

i had a TechOne HID kit 5000k vs eBay $70 HID kit 6000k. i was assuming the 6000k would be brighter but found out, it was just a color. 5000k was way brighter than my 6000k because it has a stronger lumens compare to a weak eBay HID kit. but that's my theory and trial-and-error.

also, i wouldn't recommend buying the eBay bulbs. not worth it. what if it's soo cheap that it bust inside your projector? i had a cheap eBay 9006 bulb inside my headlamp before. somehow, it was too hot and it busted inside my head light. i had to take the whole headlight out and get all the glass out. it's a pain in the butt!
