if you run a capasitor with your system you can use a OEM battery w/o lights dimming, but id suggest upgrading the alternator either way. Im on my 2nd battery and 2nd alternator, i have 2 12" kickers, rockford capasitor, 1000w sony xplode amp. the systesm stresses the alternator to keep the battery full of power, which kills it quicker, and when the alt goes, the battery on its way out, right behind it when you have a system.

im gettin the optima yellow and the odyessy alternator

i see u gettin an odyssey alt....is it gonna help i kno yes its a V6 engine alt, but would it be a big difference? and does it fit witout problems?

yep i have a red top under the hood because its the only baller thing under there next to all the 0-gauge wire and my sweet intake  and a yellowtop in the trunk because i was telling my cousin what to buy at the time (he had the car and i felt like making rich family spend money) and that's how i'd roll if i had the money......now its mine...yay

i got the 140A alternator from alterstart in texas from their ebay store.....no problems and its been at least 3 years since its been in the car...only problem was them sending a V6 one instead of the 4cyl when i first ordered. they sent a bigger gauge wire for the output but its pretty short/useless...

that reminds me, i need to upgrade my grounds and the output wire on my baller alternator

x2. Purchased a 180amp alt from them six years ago, and no issues since. There seems to be SO much mis-information here regarding caps and power requirements..

I would look into a Kinetik battery. I have a Kinetik 1400 which fits under the hood of our cars perfectly into the battery tray. It puts out 1500 cold cranking amps, which is nearly double the optima battery of the same size. I paid 200 shipped for mine. Not to be cocky, but if you need someone with some car audio experience or knowledge, I basically LIVE on caraudio.com. You won't be disappointed by that battery. Everyone in my club uses them as a stock replacement. Beats the hell out of the Optima for nearly the same price/size.

Haven't seen em for that cheap around here. I'll still stick to my guns and say double the cold cranking amps so why not? If you have the money to spend at least.
