Ok, so wow, where to begin? How about by first thanking all 40 teams that participated in the 7th-running of the Gumball330! And no, I didn't stutter, we had a record-breaking and astonishing 40 teams going head-to-head, or wheel-to-wheel so to speak, competing for cash prizes in the first 330km Gumball330 Road Rally. And by thanking Mother Nature for getting the mother-freakin' storms out of the area that posed a potential problem to the event's definite but uncertain success.
Repeat teams such as Team Tyler is Crazy, Team PT, Jess & Co. and Team S2k all knew just about what to expect. But Novice teams like Team AMG, SRT-4-Oh-my-God! and the crew from Forced4's had a little learning to do. But they all caught on very quick and all did extremely well!
This Gumball330 Road Rally was planned, executed, checkpointed and scored by Greg Robinette and Jeff Hupcej; two veterans of Gumballs-past. Their new outlook on marketing and ideas for the route and ending points were a breath of fresh air to a once potentially drab Gumball330 post-party. And resulted in more than double the normal participants that the event usually brings in. And the event was sponsored by Magic Edge Vinyl (Team Stratus R/T); thanks to them for the custom vinyl graphics they produced. Please give these folks a hand for assuring the good times we all had.
So what were some of the others models on hand you ask? How about a couple-three or so Dodge Calibers, a CL55 AMG, a few WRX's, I think there was a Miata in there somewhere too, an RSX, an Integra, and a few BMW's, Mazdas, an Evo and even some VW's.. It was quite the eclectic variety of manufacturers represented among these enthusiast teams, and by the way, don't forget the comfortable-cruisers too like the MKZ and the G35. These teams knew just how to ride in style (and in Air Conditioning!) and compete at the same time. Good thinking!
We hope everyone had a great time today. This was the first Gumball that I was able to participate in, instead of planning, and needless to say my navigator and I are already plotting some of the turns and routes the Fall Gumball330 will make.
Remember, the fall Gumball will be early October, probably the first or second weekend. And it will be an evening/night rally beginning around 7 and ending in the ballpark of 10pm or so. You might want to bust out your Rallye Fog Lights for this one!

Pics from the starting line. Normally we have a few people that snap pics throughout the day but some people had other plans or were running the Gumball. I myself was busy driving around like a madman between checkpoints.

Largest group = All newbs
Smallest = Past participants
