what im trying to say is Virginia cops are assholes to New York drivers...my dad and I were in the right lane on some highway doing maybe 1 or 2 mph over the speed limit and got pulled over regardless of the VA drivers going much faster in the left lane. Funny thing, we got pulled over two more times on the way to Williamsburg, once by the same cop as that first time for going too slow bc my dad was going about 10 mph under the speed limit because we thought the cop was gunna pull us over for some bs again...i hate Virginia...will never go there again lol

I would have had a field day in court with that. You would have been able to get all the tickets thrown out. Entrapment right there.

A ticket for going 3mph over the limit (if in fact that is what was written), and then a ticket for going under the limit. If that happened to me, I would have smiled all the way to the courthouse to challenge those.

I once got a ticket because I made a 'motion with my left hand' and the cop thought I was putting on my seatbelt - stopped me and gave me a seatbelt ticket.

To the OP: Goodluck - Sometimes you can work out a deal - go on that road and see where the speedlimit drops from 50ish to the 30 zone if it does infact do that. If the sign is obstructed - even a little, you can claim that you assumed the zone was a 50 zone.

You can also look at local town bylaws. Most cities and towns have a baseline speed limit.

i don't get why everyone's being so harsh on this guy

- fully admitted his mistake
- said he deserves to lose his license and he probably will
- says he got lucky before and doesn't deserve to get bailed out for this

i do hope that you lose your license and learn from it - but you're fortunate to walk out of this with only a hefty ticket and a license suspension

72 in a 30 is just ridiculous, smarten up and be safe

x2

thanks everyone for the support. and for the people who realize that everyone makes a mistake. I am honestly scared for my life to even drive over the speed limit anymore. I have a ****ty job and go to college so i already know how hard it's gonna be without a license and my high insurance rates when i get my license back. Chances are I'm going to have to sell my Accord (hmu if your interested) to pay back my loan, by a beater and only pay liability. The past few days it's really set in, and i really have learned my lesson. Actually just last night I got pulled over and i almost **** myself because i wasn't doing anything wrong and can't afford anymore tickets. It turns out I didn't get a ticket for anything and my friend got 5 tickets. He decided to be an asshole and pull up next to me in the oncoming lane. The cop pulled us both over assuming we were going to race, but the cop knew i was being honest and told me because i didnt speed up that he'd let me go. (and he probably knew a 4cyl accord would never beat an Si). They ended up giving him five tickets. One for tints, one for exhaust, one for a license plate bulb being out, crossing the double yellow, and not using a blinker.

I did 130 for almost 1hr coming back from cali. Almost no cars tho and all straight for 200 miles. When signs say" speed patroled by aircraft" you know your out in the middle of no where. Was it dumb? Yeah, i probably would have died if i crashed.

how do you figure, the only time i got my f series to 130 it was on a down hill slope on the freeway ... my h tops out at 119 or something due to the speed governor FML
