I have the passport 8500 I think its a great radar. It has saved me a couple times. On a straight road it seems like it picks up for miles. I recommend it to anyone that wants a good radar for the price.

I bought a v-1 in late november 06. The v-1 is absolutely worth the investment. i cant even keep count on how much it saves me. Im in florida and sometimes im going 80 on a 45(the road is so large its like a highway and also has no lights) The only ticket i ever got was early jan 07 in maryland when i was on my way home. The cop didnt clock me. He jus wrote down on my ticket that i was driving faster than reasonable and gave me a $90 ticket. The v-1 is the best. Some say the arrows arent useful but it is. It is easier to pick out false alarms and such.

My dad has the red 8500 X50

Works like a charm, we used to have a cheap-o Cobra that I wanted but I go to look and my mom gave it to someone or something :bash: now they say "A 16-year-old doesn't need a radar detector, you shouldn't be speeding anyways". . . . even though it'd be my own money in cash but whatever. I really would just like it so even if I'm only going 3 over I can still slow to the speed limit. Plus I love the look of them on the window for some reason :whip_001:

EDIT: sorry for the bump!

I own the Escort Passport 8500 x50 and it is amazing. It has the best radar detecting range I've ever seen.

The Valentine 1, Escort 8500 x50, and the Escort 9500i are at the top of the radar heap in my opinion. So which radar should you get? Its a matter of personal opinion. For me though, the Valentine 1 just looked like a dated piece of 1980's technology, so I went with the 8500. At the time, Escort had not released the 9500i yet, and the 9500i is supposed to be the king of the hill as I understand it. The 9500i is everything the 8500 is, with GPS built in. This allows you to "mark" false positives (gas stations, alarm systems, Walgreens, etc) so they will never go off again. So what happens if a cop parks in a lot that you marked as a false alarm? The 9500i detects the NEW signal in the area, and will warn you of the new "change". Simply amazing in my book.

Only con of the 9500i? Its expensive! $449.

As for my opinion though, I can personally vouch for the Escort 8500 x50. 150%.

I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Well I got this thing some 20-something years ago called "sight and common sense", and it's saved my *** so many times yo! It's been nearly 23,000 miles since my last ticket, and over 71,000 without tickets before that!
