Wait, I was gonna seafoam, change dist cap & rotor, pcv valve, oil change, filter cleaning, and TB cleaning. You're saying after all this stuff I shouldn't reset the ECU? Instead wait for my gas tank to clear up and reset it after refilling the tank?

This is all for maintenance but mainly to improve gas mileage.

The reason you want to wait is that your ecu is basically "relearning" so if you have anything that would not normally be their, the car will "learn" on what's their and when it's gone, the car has already "learned" it was their.

It's probably a good idea but i think gains would be incrediably minimal from this.

the back up fuse? the best way to clean out the ecu is to disconnect the cables from the battery and hold them together for 15 seconds. This will clear out all the diodes in the ecu and all stored codes or information will be lost. remember to run the car 3 times like your racing, so the car will be running at its best.

so the first post by mike_sho didn't say anything about holding the + and - ends together... do this AND the brake light trick?

Can't you just pull fuse #13 to reset the ECU, instead of disconnecting the battery and losing your radio settings?

you could but again, the best way is the battery cables

Well I didn't realize that pulling the fuse would reset the ECU so I pulled it and plugged it back in to reset the CEL, and the car ran like ***, so I just went ahead and pulled the battery cable off and let it sit half an hour, then ran it from cold to op. temp. (about 10 minutes just to be safe) and now it runs better than before. I never reset it after I did the SRI :bash: Runs much better now.

doing this doesent really do much, the ecu is actively adjusting fuel maps based on readings anyway, it already adjusts to your mods. when i first did this i thought it worked cause it gave me a little more pep in the beginning, this gives most people the illusion that it works, but after a while it went back to its low emissions tune, (remember guys we drive a family car, the ecus tune is programmed to get good gas mileage, and emit low emissions, not make alotta power.)and it drove how it did before i resetted the ecu if you want to really make use of your bolt ons get some real ecu mangement and get a tune.

Agreed /\/\ This actually does nothing in gaining performance...Maybe a smoother throttle response and maybe a gallon to two gallon in saving gas. But running it hard is not going to make you run any harder than it is...

I also heard disconnecting the battery and opening the left door, then opening the gas tank, closing the gas tank, opening the hood, disconnecting the left axle, and than putting it back together gains, a solid 12whp....

Dont waste your time on this, this guy knows nothing more than to copy and paste.
