Well the amp looks like it can handle a 1 ohm load, so your ohm load shouldn't be the problem. What gauge wire are you running? Do you have a good ground? Gains set properly?
good job, you almost started your car on fire...this happend to me last summer when it was like 105degrees. they shut off then cooled down then turned back on. but it happend again and i looked and my power wire hooked up to my battery with the fuse in it melted lol.

doesn't matter if its 1 ohm stable (which it might not be...just tolerant of momentary low impedance loads) because it WILL run hotter than at 2 or 4 or 8 ohms or whatever.
