Well the amp looks like it can handle a 1 ohm load, so your ohm load shouldn't be the problem. What gauge wire are you running? Do you have a good ground? Gains set properly?

my vote goes to not enough air circulation around the amp...cause i'm assuming its like 2" from the rear deck...

this happend to me last summer when it was like 105degrees. they shut off then cooled down then turned back on. but it happend again and i looked and my power wire hooked up to my battery with the fuse in it melted lol.
good job, you almost started your car on fire...

lower impedance = hotter running amp

doesn't matter if its 1 ohm stable (which it might not be...just tolerant of momentary low impedance loads) because it WILL run hotter than at 2 or 4 or 8 ohms or whatever.

True. But if OP is running 8 gauage wire, that might be a problem too.

yes... more than your subs heating, it is your amp protecting itself. When I installed at BB this happened more often with sony and rockford amps. Unfortunetely there is no good solution.. maybe folding down your seats or cracking them... or buying a better amp that has an insulated case. Like a JL

he would have noticed the issue all year long with too-small wire...instead of just the summers...

Very true. But he still hasn't told us what model the subs are and what the ohm load is. That's a pretty big factor. But it is probably due to not enough air ventalation

If he's asking why they turned off, odds are he doesn't know what load he presenting to his amp or how the subs are wired. Just something that crossed my mind....
