Ok just the other day I was stopped at a light and I heard this ticking noise coming from my car. (no it wasn't a bomb LOL). Anyhow figured out it was coming from my engine.

I tried the AC, shut it off turned it on but that wasn't the cause of the ticking noise. I heard this noise only once before and that was 6-8 months ago when I went to go visit my Dad in Orlando and his Camry was doing the same thing. He said the car ran fine and wasn't worried about the noise. I of course worry about noises like that.

Is it because I'm at 152,000 miles and counting or could it be belts or what. I already changed out my timing belt, water pump and other belts but I don't know what could be causing this noise.

I left the car on tonight and popped the hood and I was trying to pin point exactly where this noise is coming from. It's either my starter (which I changed 5-7 years ago or a belt)

Anyone else have this problem??

Just trying to see what it could be before I have to take it in and get it checked

Peace,

I just read on another forum that it could be valves. I don't think they did a valve adjustment. heck I don't think I've ever done a valve adjustment.

This is the first time I have ever heard the noise from my engine like that.

How much should a valve adjustment be?

i dont htink itd be much. but they deff shouldve done it when they did your timing belt. i had mine done. call your local dealer and ask for a price, or you could find a local shop, thats does good work, and ask them about it.

i had a ticking sound on mine also. when i accelerate, it ticks. then when i stop, it ticks. sounds like my engine about to fall off though. it's coming from the passenger side for sure though. i talked to shaved about it and he said something about the cam shaft, i think. i forgot.

Valves, for a valve job...maybe around $200 or you can do it yourself if you've got the tools/time/haynes.

Dynasty - does it keep ticking when you stop? Sounds like it might be your CV boot.

well, it only ticks when i stop OR go. but yes, everytime i stop, it ticks. how could i resolve it? if it doesn't hurt then engine, then i don't mind hearing the sound even though it's annoying. but would it cost a lot to fix it?

Hi, I'm new here...but I think it your alternator that might cause that ticking noise. I have that tickin noise couple thousand mile ago, replace the alternator and it gone. So check to see if it your alternator.

+1 for the alternator (my .02)

Talked to a local honda tech over here, said it might be the tranny. But he said it would be more of a grinding sound instead of a ticking.
