Hey I was wondering how the remote start work on an accord?

When you remote start your car do you need to insert the key to drive? Or you can just drive off without inserting the key?

This is not urgent....

Every remote start works like that. As in you after you remote start it you put in the key turn it to on then go.

Start the car.

Unlock the car.

Put the key in turn it to the second position then press brake and switch into drive or reverse ect...

If you press the brake with out the key in, the car will shut off. It's a security feature so if your car is open and you start it some random person can't just hop in and drive away.

That's how it works for auto, not sure how it works for a manual.

Manual there is a certain sequence you must do. The sequence can vary depending on who installs it and what bypass is used. Typically it involves turning off the car, putting it in neutral and starting it with the clutch and brake in then turning off the car and some times remote starting it again with the clutch and brake in. Basically to assure the system that you left it in neutral and not in gear.

Sounds like a pain, and it is. But it's not the end of the world if you really want remote start and you're manual.

I don't have, but I plan to have it installed before the following winter. It's really not a pain to have it in a standard shift vehicle, same process, just make sure it's not in gear. If left in gear just hope the wheel is straight and nothing is in front or back of your ride.
