Vtec Crossover

I have a 1999 accord lx sedan I4 Ulev AT (F23A4 motor) with an AEM SRI. Does anyone know what rpms vtec is suspose to engage? Im having trouble finding it.

is it the performance type or econ type of vtec? for performance i think 4-4.5 and econ is 2-2.5?

Ulev is the econ but i took it for a short drive around the block and left it in D2 but couldnt notice a crossover sound i went to like 1-4.5

well u can hear ur engine get a little louder and ur car will sort of jump forward a bit. Not jerking but u can feel a push.

There is no performance and econ VTEC for us. It's all economy. Period.

VTEC = RPM + Throttle position + Oil pressure.

With all the right circumstances (ie. enough oil pressure, speed, and WOT) VTEC will engage ~2300rpm. If you're babying it, it could engage as late as 3800rpm.

^ That last sentence doesn't make much sense for an auto, I know.

To really hear Vtec, I usually gun it. Not necessarily full throttle, but maybe liek 3/4 or 4/5 pedal is enough to make a difference.

Mine jumps in at exactly 3500, every time. Never fails :D
