i have something shaking on the front right side of the car that i can feel when driving sometimes, it happens mostly when i turn the car off (thats when i can hear it best), when i accellerate (around 2000-2500 rpm is when i feel it the most and at this point its more of a grinding sound), or at just any random time while im driving. i thought it might be my CAI being loose but i tightened everything down good and nothing changed.

NOTE: recently installed springs and headers on my car but i really dont think its either of those.

any ideas???? its really starting to get on my nerves.

The little gnomes inside your engine bay are hard at work destroying your car with their little hammers and grinders.

your engine mounts might be bad and causing your cai to rub . Happened to be when i had my V2.

^

Check if anything is coming in contact with the axle, if end links are loose, if there is anything out of the ordinary hanging under there or moving freely.

When I turboed, I forgot to mount the resistor box and it fell through and was rubbing and bouncing off the axle.. :skurred:

Luckily I noticed and affixed it.

well after looking and thinking a little, i remember my intake is mounted weird because i couldnt figure out the ebay mount so when i mounted it it had a tab sticking up. i took out my hood insulation the other day and so the shaking when turning the car off was when the intake shakes with the engine the tab was hitting the metal on the hood. so that solved that, i bent the tab down and no more shake. so that just leaves me with the gridning sounds. now that the shaking is gone and i can hear better it sounds like it may be coming from around my right strut area after all. everything was but back in right so what could it be? could the strut be blown? would that cause any grinding? it doesnt look blown..it sits just the same as my left strut however i can see that its leaking cause theres stuff all up under there. i plan on getting tokicos but itll be june before i can afford them. idk if it can wait that long if thats the problem or not.

thoughts now?

if something is leakin from the strut I'm going to have to say its blown. take your wheel off and get a better look at it and see if it is for sure coming from the sturt. if thats the case your probably going to have to get a new one or replace them all with the tokico's like you said. Driving with a blown strut is pretty dangerous, my civic had a blown strut in the back and when I went over a hill to fast I almost lost control of the car because of it.

I have a rear passenger leaking strut, it feels like its blown. Whenever you hit a bump in the road it feels like the rear is gonna swing sideway cause its not absorbing anything. Thats my experience, I need to get it replace someday.

you can tell a blown strut if you go to each corner of the car and push it up and down. If it moves more than inch (NOT SITTING ON IT) then chances are its blown. You can rock it like a boat when its blown

go to each corner and try rocking it (or look at the steering components under it, if its dry it works, if its wet and shiny, then its blown

as for grinding, when i heard that on my 5th gen, it was the wheel bearing. The grease dried and started to grind against metal
