for that matter, how can you even make a garbage header?

if the welds are fine (and they are) you're good.

it only comes down to inferior heat withstanding gaskets.

the latter I'm sure is what he meant, if not...holy biased statement batman.

If a company is simply recreating the factory header with cheap, low quality materials and crap gaskets, then the product is junk. IE Megan, BLOX, OBX, Etc . . There is no R&D to their design, no testing, no quality control. Garbage.

and what I'm saying is it doesn't take rocket science to create a header for a 4 cylinder engine.

how much R&D could they do for christ's sake, it's four pipes bridged into one at a flange and then a downpipe with a flex part.

At the same time, its not the same as the factory header, so they aren't recreating anything.

and how do you *guarantee* that they will crack?

I've had three different headers before, and this one has held up the best.

the first one was a no name (crap of course) and the second was a stainless steel DC Sports header, the weld near the flange of the downpipe cracked.

so where's quality control there? I'm just daily driving with it on, it's ridiculous that it couldn't take it.

:D it went from spark plugs to exhaust.
but i learned a few things about my headers.
mines are just fine even though i have hit it a few times going over bumps..
only thing is my flex pipe is leaking now.. :tgf:

There is a reason that some headers cost $1400 and some cost $30. Its certainly not just 4 pipes welded together.

You guys buy whatever the fvck you want. Buy the cheapest sh!t you can find on ebay. If worked in the racing industry for a few years now, I know what works, what doesn't, what breaks, what makes power and I certainly know know what NOT to buy.

That being said, Use NGK or Denso plugs, and dont ever buy an Bosch Universal O2 sensor.

Gonna fuel the fire and ask, what's wrong with Bosch o2 sensors, as they seem to be the popular option in terms or replacement and they come stock with many wideband controllers. I know you said universal o2 sensors, but do you also feel the same way about Bosch wideband o2 sensors?

Sorry about offtopic OP, I'ma let you finish, but in addition I think that there may be a useful discussion brewing here.
