White here. Grandparents on both sides are german. My grandfather was a nurse and an interpreter for the US army. I wish i learned the german language from him when i had the chance.

its really not that hard to learn since english is a germanic language. the hardest parts are genders (computers are male, walls are female, cars are neutral ) and tenses (past-perfect etc).

otherwise, the alphabet is the same, and it uses lots of english words.
