Which one is a better idea

I want to put rims on my 01 accord but I don't know which one would be a better idea sense I don't really know much about cars.
a) 19x8.5 rims with 235/35/ tires

b) 18x8 rims with 225/40/ tires and Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs 1.5 drop on OEM shocks

...if not an answer maybe pros and cons about the ideas.

I've had 18's for a long time. I would stick with them because they will give you a little more sidewall to protect the wheel. I also think that without a big brake kit, the 19's give a little too much room between the wheel and rotor.

You need to figure out your suspension setup first. Don't waste your money on wheels until you know how low and what width and etc..... etc. Go look in the suspension threads very useful info.

18 ftw.... 19 ends up looking too big depending on ur setup. Ive seen some 19's that look good but then it makes the wheels look big on a small car

I don't think you should get rims that are "too wide" especially if you don't really know what you're doing. Learn more about suspension/wheel specs before buying anything.

But the 18x8 sounds good on S-Techs though.

I run 18x8 with 225/40 and have no rubbing issues. But that suspension choice is no good. If you drop on OEM shocks, they will blow within 3,000 miles. Also, a 1.5" drop is not going to satisfy you. I recommend that you do not cheap out on the suspension and either get lowering springs with at least a 2" drop or coilover sleeves. As for the shocks, go for Tokico Illuminas or Koni Yellows. Or go one better and get full coilovers.
