will my 1200watt Hifonics amp overpower my 12" L5?

I have an 2 ohm 12" Kicker L5,with a ported box that is tuned to 32hz.

Im looking into another HIFONICS BRUTUS BXi1210D 1200 watt amp.
the L5 is 1200watt peak but 600rms.

the amp is:
# 1-Ohm Power Rating 1x1200
# 2-Ohm Power Rating 1x900
# 4-Ohm Power Rating 1x450

will It be okay if i keep the Gain down a little bit? I had an L7 with a 750watt hifonics amp and it was fine,but the L7 can take more abuse than L5..

careful with the gain and volume knobs...shouldn't be a problem

make sure you have a subsonic filter set to like 30 Hz.

Is the sub a dual 2 ohm voice coil? If so you can wire it to 4 ohms and that way the amp will pushbput just enough powerr for the sub

ya its a dual 2 ohm voice coil..I would get my 750 again,but they discontinued the TITAN series amps.
OR anybody have other idea for name brand amp with around 170-210$ to spend on it.
But im really a fan of hifonics amps

ok Thanks..I already have an 100amp alt..Redtop..Going to get a 5 farad capacitor,and maybe do the big 3.

do the big 3 in 0 and run 4 to the amp.

I would be VERY careful setting it that low. Remember that the speaker is unloaded much below the tuning freq, and crossovers are not "brick wall" - they have a slope too.
