So of course I did my reading AND searching AND even got Roy's opinion before posting this.

Bottom line, I know its the "last" thing you do and there are still minimal to no performance gains, BUT I was interested in the prospect of better gas mileage.

I could pick one up for about the price of a full tank of gas and so thought if it helps me get more then 250 miles per tank... (seeing that some of you get close to 400 per tank!) it would be worth a shot.

My questions are, how dangerous is the unit in terms of longevity of the car? i.e. running lean to save gas

OBDII would just relearn the old settings but how is that possible if the piggyback system is constantly sending mixed signals to the ECU?

Oh yeah, and of course - How hard of an installation? How much would I have to typically pay if its over my head?

Thanks guys

IMO - just buy a plug n play harness to install it. No need to be cutting/splicing wires to your ECU.

I'd def opt for the harness as well.

I searched for a place to buy it... and this is what I came up with...

2001 accord OBDIIA or B?

but how about the functionality? would I be wasting the money?

Its funny that you started this thread b/c I was thinking of the exact same thing on my way to work the other night. I still have my SAFC2 and harness, thought about plugging it back in.

Although, both are mostly meant as a performance enhancing tool, as are most aftermarket ECU modifiers but I'm sure its possible with enough time/knowledge to figure out how to massage a few more MPG from your car.

its $160 just for the plug and play harness!!!!!! thats nuts!!!! im not down to pay that much, instead i'd rather splice into the factory wires!! Does anyone know how to do that? Maybe a diagram on which wire goes to which wire? or a link that has it posted on there?

does the AFC Neo work with I4 F23?
because i remember reading that the original VAFC and i think the VAFC II did not work with the 4 cylinder engines.
also, the AFC Neo does not work with iVTEC engines.

I had a vafc2 in my car when i was na, they arent worth it if you are planning serious mods, but if you want to pick up 8-10whp your fine,
