Re: no premuffler

so you didn't like the sound when you removed the premuffler?
Hes talking about the resonator I believe
Taking out the resonator makes it raspy and rice

I'm dying for one of you J30 guys to try this and see how it sounds. I've heard it on 3G TL's and it makes them sound G35ish.

Delete mid muffler and weld in straight pipe, delete OEM resonator and weld this in it's place......

1/2 there.. :)
I have been wanting to ask you. I think I have sent you a pm about this but havnt heard back yet. The dynomax resonator in/out is larger than the stock piping. Would we have to convert it somehow? would the resonator even work since its so big it just pasts through? How big is the tl pipe compared to accords? Does that style come in smaller sizes? Sorry if I ask stupid questions but these are the factors pulling me back on trying to do what you guys do. THANKS!

hey JMiller.. do you think if I put one of those resonators in place of my stock resonator in my 4cyl.. it would give my CL-S muffler a more of an aggressive tone? (i want it to sound smooth and kinda sporty, not necessarily deep.. i know it's almost impossible for my lil' 4banger to sound sporty but i'm tryin!). The interior drone is what I'm worried about.. I just got rid of my Flowmaster cause of it's two-chamber design so it's a bit loud.

The dynomax pipe has sound absorbant material right? Or is it like straight through?

How much louder would the dynomax resonator be over a stock accord resonator?

Sorry for so many questions..

Probably comes in multiple sizes down to 2.5" or 2.25", nothing a reducer can't take care of from there.

Putting in a larger resonator will allow you to open up the rest of the exhaust system more and use a less aggressive muffler to give you a louder, deeper sound without the raspies.

The stock resonator and any other resonator you will find has sound absorbent material in it, usually fiberglass around a perforated metal tube. Any local parts store probably has a "cherry bomb" muffler in it... that is what a resonator is.

It's fairly useless to put in a larger resonator without changing the muffler (of at least removing the premuffler) since the stock muffler is pretty much dead silent.

I would check dynomax's website, I'm sure they make a similar resonator that will fit right.

It's possible, but this resonator is going to be a lot larger than the one on your I4, I would look for one that is a little bit smaller. Magnaflow make a lot of good products as well.

Naw I think it will work. You're a V6 right?? Should sound pretty nice, I would upgrade your mufflers as well though to get the full effect.
