Seeing as I don't have an upgraded clutch, would the plastic one be fine? I did not ask before they had the slave cylinder shipped to my local store from another store location. If I ask, and it is the plastic one, and I request the cast iron cylinder it may make wait time even longer.

If you need to meet a deadline then the ploastic one should be fine. In the mean time have them order an iron one so when its in stock swap them out ujnder warranty.

Just picked up the parts from Advance - the slave cylinder appears to be the cast iron one - it definitely does not feel like plastic. The only downside about ordering from Advance is that they did not have the hose that connects from the reservoir to the master cylinder, so I just had some of the generic hose cut to about a foot and then will have whoever installs the new parts to just cut it to fit. This should work, yes?

Cool, then your set!

With the hose, as long as it is generic power steering hose that can hold up to some pressure at least, not just any rubber hose then yes, it should work.

I personally wouldn't suggest putting just ANY generic hose on that location. if you do use that house least you can do is "rig" it with zip ties on each end to prevent leaks i suppose....

If its vaccuum, its not going to work. It will swell with pressure. Push lock lines, like ones used for fuel, will work just fine. Pattywak, you're not doing the work yourself?

Ahh, okay. I suppose I will just wait and replace the hose at a later date possibly. And no, I'm not doing the work myself as I don't have many tools besides a small Craftsman set and no place to do the work. I will either let my friend do it, who has worked with me and helped me on every install on my car, or be taking it to a shop near my father's house to get it done tomorrow.

I know I will get charged extra taking it to a shop, but the thing is my friend can only do it after work at 6pm, and after the General Manager of the Toyota Dealership leaves for good. The GM has walked down to the shop with my car in the air when we were putting my test pipe on and had a fit, almost fired my friend, and made us take the car down off the lift and out of the shop without bolting anything back on. Luckily, we got it to my cousins house and finished the job. I don't have the luxury of waiting around for him to get a chance to work on the car , especially when I could just take it to that shop early in the morning tomorrow and have it done by the afternoon then drive back here to college for class on Friday.

It's quite a pickle, but I'm trying to make the most out of it.

About the hose - the only reason I considered replacing it is because I saw some signs of fluid on it. When I inspected it, it doesn't appear cracked or ripped at all. Should I still worry about getting it replaced?

Its best to eliminate all problems. Take your master cylinder to the parts store and tell them you want push lock hose that will fit on there, they'll have it and they charge by the foot. If you go often they may just give it to you for free.

I'm sorry you don't have a place to work on your car. Every man should have a garage. Just as we are all born with balls (well most of us lol) we should all be born with a garage so that we can work on stuff in comfort.

I guess in your situation a shop is the best bet.

Alright, I will go tomorrow before going to the shop. I hope they know what I'm talking about when I say "push lock hose" and don't just look at me like, "WTF is this kid asking for?" That's my only worry haha. So a regular vacuum line will not work, I will remember that just in case they try to sell me a vacuum line.

And I totally agree...I would work on my own car so much more if I had SOMETHING to put it under and stay dry. Not even a garage, I would settle for a car port or like a big sturdy tent. ANYTHING! haha.
