Re: Going for a re-tune....

Thanks! I'm so paranoid about something being wrong (as simple as a coolant temp sensor like last time) that I was all worked about initiating the date. ha-ha. Hopefully there's no issues like that and everything goes well!

Happy early birthday bud!

Re: Going for a re-tune....

I have the MSD 6al and blaster 2 external coil actually. I kept the OEM dizzy and wired the blaster MSD ignition system into the OEM ignitor inside the OEM dizzy. I think it's easier that way. That way I oem parts but I actually get the increase in the spark to allow for better and higher boost levels....

Nice, never thought about this, I might use this in my setup as well. Best of luck with your tuning session. Keep us updated!

Re: Going for a re-tune....

AFAccord -- What prevented me from high numbers the first time was a few things. First right off the bat was mis-fires. Which is the reason I got the MSD. Second time around we hit 333whp, which was a good number, however I wanted to switch to E85 to get some better tuneability and numbers, in doing so came this awesome (saying that sarcastically) en devour of removing/reinstalling the head too many times to count, the timing issue and everything.

Thanks. I'll have to start researching ignition options. Like others, I have seen some issues with MSD boxes, but there's always options like Mallory and even Summit to consider. I would love to run E85, and if I lived near my parents in Upstate SC I would because nearly every station carries it. Being where I am though, there's only one station within 50 miles, and I simply travel too much to plan my trip around my next fuel stop. Thanks for the info!

NP! The thing about it, is you can add it on-top of your OEM distributor so that way you don't mess with anything stock but get that added spark when needed, best thing I ever did.

That's the one downside to E85, is you have to know where they are, especially on long trips to know when and where to fill up on gas. But that was the one sacrifice i'm willing to give up for that extra power. But it's not as readily accessible in some states which makes it a non-option for some....

Getting pretty excited only 9 days left!

Re: Going for a re-tune....

Yeah the funny thing is I went to check on the car yesterday to make sure everything was okay, and wash it, and not only was the battery completely dead, but the drivers side hood hinge rusted completely out and I have to go pick up a new one today. LOL.

Go figure right? Today, i'll go make sure all sensors are running correctly and everything via the EMS and drive it to my Apartment for tomorrow afternoon's tune time...
