u need teh vtek oil

a clogged cat gradually gets worse once it starts, but it's not something that will limit your rev to a certain rpm

sounds like a clogged cat

True... try pulling the exhaust off (before cat) and drive it open... if problem persists, clogged Cat.

LOL... vtek oil - actually, low oil level will cause your vtec solenoid to malfunction and vtec won't work and engine rpms will fall on its face too. It happened to me once. Got on the fwy onramp, hit the gas, full throttle and it hot about 3500-4000 rpm and it made no power... checked oil level (cause I knew it was leaking) refilled it and ran like a champ after!

GOOD LUCK!

OP, you have a CEL on right?...i'd think common sense would say to check that first as that light is there to tell you something is not working up to the ECU's expected limitations. Also check your oil level as mentioned already.

If someone hasnt said this, Check your oil, also check your vtec solenoid. My did that before. Haven't gotten a new solenoid yet but just keep an eye on your oil if you can't get the solenoid yet.
