is there a reason u are using a h22 tcu? wouldnt u need a f22 tcu since u are running a f23 bottom? or are using a h22 tcu since u are running a DOHC top?

He's using the H22 TCU cuz he went OBD1 I believe. It has nothing to do w/ the actual engine components.

They are definately not the same. Shift points are very different from one series to another.

This should explain it simply....

ECU = Engine Control Unit
TCU = Transmission Control Unit

Totally different and seperate.

well, im not explaining my question very well.

ok lets try this again

i have bought a p72 ecu and a 93 f22 tcu. i plan to do the same swap g23 with the obd-i conversion and turbo'd. my question is, since i will be running a f23 tranny, with a f22 tcu. Why would you buy a h22 SiR tcu if u plan to run f23 tranny?

EDIT: Called up MRX and he explained why it would be better for the SiR tcu for your build.

sounds like a good project but first of all... why are you bothering with an autp tranny? why not jsut swap over to stick?

you know there is about 35% drivetrain loss with an auto, plus you can probably save around 200lbs of weight by stitching to a manual...

also, with that much power, you will destroy the auto in a matter of time. if gears start slipping or you start tearing teeth, its going to be a mess.

just some friendly advice, since i can testify the weight savings and power savings from swapping to a manual, and how easy it actually is if you plan it out.
